Prescription Pricing Overview: With the ever-changing national economy, everyone in a retail service industry must be able to price the merchandise accurately and consistently to remain in business. Foundation Systems Pharmacy Management System shines in this area. Our users have found that proper use of the price updating system will actually pay for itself in a short period of time.

The three components of computerized pricing are accuracy, consistency, and flexibility. These are explained as follows:

Accuracy

FSI's computer system can maintain actual cost value, AWP, assigned AWP, MAC, competitive cost, or any miscellaneous cost for you. Then it can apply a markup factor as assigned by you. This markup factor can be any combination of the above costs, extra fees, or additional percentages. You can even combine a fee or percentage with allowances for special groups of customers such as senior citizens or employees. Because the system is customized to meet your needs, you can determine your exact prices.

Consistency

The computer, like any other piece of high-tech equipment, cannot think on its own. It can only produce that which it has been programmed for. In prescription pricing this is a blessing because each time you fill a script the computer will generate the price that you have established for this patient and this drug. So even when you're not there, your relief people will know exactly what to charge. When prices are overridden and special deals are cut, you, the system manager, can print out a report that tells you the accumulated price variances for each drug.

Flexibility

Your computer system must be flexible enough to handle all the possibilities that you can throw at it. From calculating that price schedule that you've had in your head for years to handle Mrs. Martin, your favorite customer, to satisfy all the senior citizens that mean so much to your business, FSI's software does it all with ease and accuracy!

Foundation Systems has included special flags and notices into the system. These virtually eliminate costly pricing errors. The system uses pricing tables for each customer and drug to calculate prices. Then the system displays the charges along with the cost data and formulas. You are in control at all times. If you don't agree with the pricing formula, you can use a function key to update the formula either temporarily or permanently.

Automatic formulas can be based upon quantity, days supply, or dispensing unit. This is done accurately, consistently, and with the greatest flexibility possible.
