Retail Point-of-Sale Systems offer a new degree of increased control in the retail environment that until recently has been cost prohibitive for most independent pharmacies.  Foundation Systems now provides a cost effective solution that will allow your pharmacy to maintain complete control of inventory, cash and all other facets of the checkout procedure.  With all the products that now carry bar coding (UPC's), pharmacies can reduce costly pricing errors, eliminate labor intensive item pricing and capture valuable product data through bar code scanning.  The results will be better customer service with increased control over the total retail environment, resulting in increased profitability!

Simple, Uncluttered Screens                                              
Using the FSI programming techniques and on screen sales ticket, training of operators / clerks is quick and easy.  The system is programmed for a natural data flow that makes the system easy and enjoyable to use!
Computer Keyboard Entry
The system is built around the standard computer keyboard using barcode readers and laser scanners for fast accurate data input. 
Item Lookup 
Item lookup is by UPC number of product name, you're never lost as to where to find the items in your inventory.
Advance Sale Pricing  
Sale pricing entry is standard so you can setup your sales, days or months in advance and then have the computer automatically price the items accordingly.
Complete Cash Management 
Complete cash management is provided to manage all the forms of payment from cash, coupons to credit cards, all with automatic end-of-day reconciliation.
Inventory and Purchase Order 
Inventory and purchase order management are automatically integrated into the system to maintain your inventory levels and automatically generate purchase orders for your wholesale distributor.  These purchase orders can be electronically filed with the wholesaler where available.
Bad Check 
Bad check files are provided for your use.  Anytime a check is processed the computer checks to see if there are outstanding checks against that name or account number on file.  If a negative report is retrieved the computer will prompt the cashier accordingly.
Accounts Receivable Software 
Accounts receivable software is integrated into the point-of-sale system to provide complete control over all the credit functions.  Charges and payments on account can be made right from within the sales transaction and then immediately posted to complete up-to-date credit and reporting functions.
General Ledger and Accounts Payable 
General ledger and accounts payable modules are also integrated with the point-of-sale system to provide you with complete financial statement and cash management data that is updated daily.
Computer Hardware Integration 
The FSI Retail Point-of-Sale System is intended to be a stand alone system or integrated as a part of the Foundation Systems Pharmacy Management System, and as such run on the industry standard SCO-UNIX operating system.  Each cash register / terminal functions as a stand alone terminal with a credit card reader, receipt printer and a UPC laser scanning device.  Color terminals are also available.
Database:  
The inventory database as initially installed includes options for over 130,000 items made up of 34,000 health & beauty items, 4,000 home health care items, and 120,000 sundry items from over 45 different major categories, broken down into 100's of sub categories.
Each inventory item includes information such as your direct cost, national AWP, universal code (UPC), comparative prices, suggested retail and other information that will allow you to maintain a complete record and history.  The initial inventory database is from DP Hamacher.
Reporting:  
The system is fully integrated with a reporting system that allows you to analyze all areas of your business from purchasing requirements to gross profit analysis, salesmen / clerk performance to inventory turnover and cash management.
System Updates:  
Foundation Systems will provide monthly updates to the item file as published by DP Hamacher Associates, and updates to the software as required.  The relationship between you and your wholesales determines how often updates for your direct costs will be available and in what format.
Computer Hardware Integration:
The Foundation System Retail Point-of-Sale System in intended to be a stand alone system or integrated as part of the Foundation System Pharmacy Management System and as such runs on industry standard RedHat Linux or SCO-UNIX operating systems.
Each cash register / terminal functions as a stand-alone terminal with integrated credit card reader, receipt printer and UPC laser scanning device.  Color terminal attributes are supported as well as operator . clerk password and functionality security system.
