Patient
Consultation
Messages
 |
At the same time the system prints the
label and the sales receipt, it also prints the patient consultation message for
the prescribed drug. The patient consultation message first serves as a
reminder to the pharmacist of the side effects, precautions, and administrations
of the medication. Secondly, the handouts prove useful to the patient as a
reminder of this information after he has left the pharmacy. This printed
PCM is available in both English and Spanish. |

Aller-Check
/ Allergy
Checking
 |
The Foundation Systems Pharmacy Management
System will automatically screen a prescription for a reported patient allergy
to the prescribed medication. The system is supplied with the First
Databank allergy cross sensitivity codes so that both new and refill scripts will be
scrutinized by the Aller-Check system. |

 |
Dose-Check
 |
Dose-Check is an electronic database of dosage parameters
designed to help detect inappropriate medication dosing. The database
provides standard reference values and may be used to implement default values
for a prescription generation program including the minimum, usual, and maximum
daily doses for a given drug. |

Patient
Drug Education

 |
The Patient Drug Database is an electronic
database of product-specific, patient-oriented drug information. It
provides a patient with a printed medication information sheet covering topics

Quick-Check
/ Drug-to-Drug Interactions
 |
The drug interaction portion of the
Foundation Systems Pharmacy Management System is intended to aid the pharmacist
in identifying drug to drug interactions that appear to be of clinical
importance based on currently available literature. Each interaction
identified by the system is referenced to two universally accepted authorities
on the subject: "Hansten's Drug Interactions" and "Drug
Interaction Facts." Each interaction is highlighted according to the
severity of the interaction, and then the page reference to each of the above
references is given so the pharmacist has the reference material for further
information. The appearance of drug interaction warnings does not
necessarily mean that the interacting drugs may not be taken concurrently.
The system is only inteded to alert the pharmacist of a potential problem. |

Duplicate
Therapy
Database
 |
The Duplicate Therapy Database provides a
means for identifying duplication of drug therapy with a patients drug
profile. Duplications of therapy include prescribing a drug which
duplicates the therapeutic use of prescribed, yet active drug in the patient's
drug profile. Duplicate Therapy Database identifies which drugs are
involved, provides the class name and the therapeutic duplication, and indicates
the clinical significance or potential abuse of the duplication. |

 |
Drug-Disease
Contraindication System
 |
The Drug-Disease Monitoring System is a
database of prescription drugs with indication and contraindication for their
use to aid in the detection of inappropriate drug therapies. The drug to
disease interactions are supported by warning messages which define the specific
drug, disease, or condition in conflict. |
